  • Victory for the Good Guys!
    Updated On: Apr 20, 2017

    Brothers and Sisters;

        Chalk up another victory in the good guy’s column! The PFFO Legislative team has worked hard on your behalf to defeat Senate Bill 0436 by Senator Dahm out of Broken Arrow. For those of you who may not know this bill would have allowed municipalities to increase their administrative assistants from the one which is currently allowed to as many as seven. Obviously this would have had a devastating effect on some of our locals and the PFFO worked with the State FOP as well as Oklahoma City Local 157 to make sure this terrible bill never saw the light of day.

        This bill once again showed us that there are those working in our State Capitol who wish for nothing more than for our Unions to not exist and they will do whatever they can to try and weaken them through any means necessary. It is imperative now more than ever that the PFFO maintains its strong presence at the State Capitol.

        The PFFO Legislative program, under the guidance of Chalk Norton, for many years was able to make huge gains on behalf of our members which directly resulted in the wages, benefits, and rights we all currently enjoy. Through the difficult times that started in 2010 when the dynamics of the Legislature swung severely against us and were seemingly no longer in our favor we have been able to weather the storm and remain intact. The defeat of SB 0436 should send a clear message to our foes that we are a force to be reckoned with, and while this bill may rear its ugly head in future years it is dead for this year and that’s a victory we should all celebrate.
