President’s Report December:
Chalk, Meredith, Cameron, Gordon and I met with the Embassy Suites finalizing details for the upcoming convention. There have been some issues with the rooms and the rate that was being charged but Meredith worked to get that corrected.
I have been busy working on putting together an agenda for the upcoming 2018 PFFO convention, working to get everything finalized on the education opportunities as well as other speakers we will have present.
I also met with IAFF service rep Ronnie Hunter and VP Carriger about the continuing issues in Coweta and our member that was terminated there. Ronnie is currently working to get a settlement on this issue that would be fair to all parties involved.
I met with the budget committee to help with the drafting of the 2018 budget. The members of the committee have not previously been involved in drafting the budget so I was able to assist them in that process.
I worked on Shawnee and Clinton list of arbitrators to strike for arbitrations.
I was contacted by OPEIU about negotiating new terms for the collective bargaining agreement for the office staff and we will be meeting today after the board meeting.
I have been working with Chalk on the language for some sort of bill for the PERB to be recreated or substituted with another method. I have also had discussions with our legal counsel Hickman and the FOP. Hickman worked on some draft language and at this point it appears that us and the FOP are on the same page and hopefully the OML will be willing to get on board with our language.
