President’s Report:
I am currently working on negotiations in my home local of Chickasha we have a meeting scheduled with the City next week.. We have invoked the process, Jim Nance will be the Union’s representative on the arbitration panel and Ronnie Hunter will be the advocate and we are working to schedule for October. I met with Ronnie Hunter and members of the Local board to discuss our current proposals and what we need to do to get ready for arbitration. Member who was placed on admin leave for off duty conduct was suspended for five shifts and signed a last chance agreement. We struck a list on a grievance concerning discipline imposed on eight members for issues pertaining to signing payroll.
I attended the IAFF 100th year convention all last week in Seattle and Oklahoma was well represented with a large delegation.
I have begun working on a new EDF request procedure for our Locals who seek assistance with arbitration cost, I have gotten copies of a few other State Associations EDF request policies.
Put together a strike list for Bethany and Chickasha, both list have been struck and arbitrators contacted.
Working with 2nd District VP Leach on the feasibility of conducting and hosting a Fire Ops next spring, VP Leach is working with his administration in Edmond and hopefully we can have something for the board next month. I have been in contact with IAFF 11th District VP McGhee on this issue and discussed the IAFF Fire Ops 101 program.
Also in the process of putting together a committee on behavioral health and what we may be able to do for our members. I am hoping to meet with the committee in the next few weeks to brainstorm ideas. I have been in contact with IAFF 11th District VP McGhee on this issue as well and discussed the IAFF Peer Support Training as a possibility.
Working to clean up the office and going through our pile of boxes, all executive board minutes have been organized and scanned and all contracts we have on file for locals have been scanned.
