Gearing up for the convention the agenda has been finalized and the following educational opportunities will be available “why unions still matter”, “developing contract proposals”, “at the bargaining table”, and also “leadership styles”. Those classes will be taught by Grainger Ledbetter an instructor from the University of Arkansas Labor Education Program. A breakout class for Sec/Treasurers will be held and taught by Brandon Day; Secretary/Treasurer for the Texas Fire Fighters Association.
The Fire Ops 101 event will be held October 25 – 26 in Edmond.
Working to finalize the Peer Support Training hopefully will be in May and will be hosted in OKC.
I have been working with Chalk to finalize the language for the adjustments needed to the Fire and Police Arbitration Act concerning certifications/decertification’s as well as the processing of unfair labor practices. Currently bill drafting is working on the language to blend what we have put together as well as what the department of labor put together.
