The first meeting of the Behavioral health committee was conducted on September 25th; notes from that meeting are attached to your agenda. We had great discussion and brainstorming on how we can assist our members across the State who are suffering from substance abuse and/or behavioral health issues. We will be meeting again in the next few weeks to come up with an action plan going forward. I have asked Wiley Gabehart from Local 157 to Chair the committee and I believe he will do an excellent job.
We also met on September 25 with our political coordinators group to finalize our target political candidates and come up with a final endorsement list. Political Director Josiah Rovenstein will report on in more detail.
Put together a strike list for a discipline case in Shawnee and working on a strike list for Altus interest arbitration.
As you know the board approved moving forward with hosting a Fire Ops 101 next spring so I am working with VP Leach to put a committee together to meet in the next few weeks to start that process, so far I have Les, Blake Weldon, and Tony Morgan who have all accepted an invitation to be on that committee, still working to get one or two more.
Attended several more of the station visits, Yukon, Moore, Guymon, Woodward, Alva, and Weatherford and from what I have seen this effort seems to be paying off and is catching momentum.
Worked with my home local and both the City and Local have ratified our CBA for 2018/2019, no cost of living raise but longevity changed and for most employees the amount has doubled, new hires the amount stays the same. A few language changes, most important for us is removing Chief’s 10% evaluation from Captains promotion exam, also we will no longer be up keeping lawns at the stations…public works will handle that.
